Palm Treo 680 back on sale at Amazon Germany

Apparently, the Centro can’t completely satisfy all the Palm users who currently use a Treo 680 - the boys at Amazon Germany seem to be among the first to figure this out.
Their newsletter mentions blow-out deals on a variety of cell phones - on page two, the Treo 680 can be found near the bottom.
While the price of about 450 Euros is outrageous (much more than the device cost when it first came out), I nevertheless felt like letting you know - Amazon wouldn’t run this if it didn’t move produce after all…

Nokia strikes Lotus Notes smartphone deal

Depending how you define them, Finland’s Nokia is by far the largest supplier of smartphones. But Nokia position in the business smartphone market has been constrained in the past because, unlike BlackBerry-maker Research in Motion, it lacked the tools to enable companies to directly connect their corporate email systems to Nokia devices. Now that is changing. Nokia and IBM announced an agreement that will enable Nokia smartphones including more than 80m Nokia S60 devices already deployed, t

eWEEK Labs Walk-Through: BlackBerry Storm 9530 Smartphone

Research In Motion, the mobile and wireless device vendor known best for its often-imitated, Chiclet-style thumb keyboards, has produced its first touch-screen device, the BlackBerry Storm. The BlackBerry Storm's most striking feature is its nifty SurePress touch-screen, which
combines the flexibility of software-based input with the tactile response of physical buttons. Click on for some pictures of the Storm smartphone that we've taken during our tests so far, and then read our review of the device. - ...

Mobile Web Replacing Wire Web: Report

When it comes to emerging markets, there's been a lot of talk of how the mobile web will be the dominant way that people access the internet. Now there's evidence from Opera Software (OSL: OPERA), the browser makers, who in its October "State of the Mobile Web" report, found that the mobile web is replacing the wired web in Southeast Asia. Looking at data and metrics from its mobile browser Opera Mini, the company found that page views per user in Indonesia and the Philippines are significantly higher than the worldwide numbers. Page views in the Philippines alone grew more than 1120 percent this year. In Indonesia, each user browsed 358 pages on average in October 2008, "well above the global average".

Highlights from the report:

-- In Southeast Asia, among mobile Web users, Google (NSDQ: GOOG) is the dominant player in the search engine space, with Yahoo (NSDQ: YHOO) and Live Search vying for second place. Friendster is the premier social-networking site in the region, with hi5 coming in second. Nokia (NYSE: NOK) is dominant in the region, with brands like Sony (NYSE: SNE) Ericsson (NSDQ: ERIC) and Huawei competing for a distant second place.

-- Opera Mini users viewed more than 5 billion pages in October. Each person using Opera Mini viewed approximately 242 pages on average. Since September, page views have gone up 12.2 percent. Since October 2007, this number is up 326 percent.

-- The report also includes a look at the ten most popular sites in the ten countries with the highest amount of traffic. In the US, UK, Egypt and India, Google.com is the most visited web site. In Indonesia, Ukraine, South Africa and Poland, it is the second most visited website. In China, it is third, and in Russia, sixth.

Orb 2.0 Comes to the iPhone

Orb 2.0 has made it’s way to the iTunes AppStore.  One of the biggest features is live TV streaming from your computer.  I’m surprised Apple let this go though on multiple levels.  It goes against you buying everything from Apple and it also violates AT&T terms of use by streaming audio/video.  Most carriers that I know of don’t want you streaming content from your computer unless you pay for their streaming service. # Music stored on your home computer (DRM-free) # Videos that you’ve d
